Quarantined students can join music class via Google Meet

Any absent student, whether due to quarantine or any other reason, is welcome to join us for music classes via Google Meet. If you feel well and are not experiencing symptoms, you can participate synchronously with the class via Google Meet. The link to the Google Meet is on the banner at the top of our Google Classroom. Just click on the link, allow permission for Google Meet to use your microphone and camera and join our class. We’ll go over announcements and assignments at the beginning. Then you can either stick around for rehearsal or spend the rest of time practicing. If you do not have your music, scanned PDFs and recordings are available on the classwork tab of our Google Classroom. If you do not have an instrument, we can leave it in the office for someone to pick up or someone can take it to your house — or you can benefit from looking at the scanned music and practicing with what you have: you can count and clap rhythms, say note names out loud, practice fingerings on your imaginary instrument, and “play along” with the recordings. Percussionists can play with their hands on their laps, or you can grab a couple wooden spoons from the kitchen and play on a pillow 🙂
